In perfectly calm conditions, a fair number and variety of small migrants meant that September had arrived at last. Scarcities were conspicuously few, but the highlights were a

Garden Warblers, 2
Blackcaps, 1
Reed Warbler, 23
Willow Warblers, 6
Pied Flycatchers, 1
Spotted Flycatcher, 4
Whinchats, 116
Wheatears, 2
Song Thrushes, 1
Redwing, 1
Sand Martin and 1
Greenfinch. Other sightings included 4
Whooper Swans, 6
Grey Herons, a
Hen Harrier and 2 blue phase
Fulmars. The
Goosander and the moulting adult
American Golden Plover were both still present.
