In terms of the weather, it was like February all over again: westerly gales, driving rain and poor visibility combined to make all outdoor activities an unpleasant experience. An afternoon in the seawatching hide failed to produce any of the hoped-for Long-tailed Skuas, and the phalarope appeared to have departed. The only notable new arrival of the day was a
Turtle Dove in Holland House garden, which was a nice surprise; the only lingering birds of interest were the
Scaup and the
Little Stint.
